Big Hill Lake ~
Big Hill Lake is a 1240 acre lake located 14 miles southwest of Parsons
nestled in the rolling timbered countryside known as the "Little Ozarks".
This lake is the only clear water lake of its type in Kansas. Truly a
fisherman's dream. The lake features a fishing berm, steep dropoffs, and
several brush piles to encourage the growth and development of many varieties
of fish. Facilities include campsites, picnic areas, group shelters,
potable water, sanitary facilities, boat ramps, and sand swimming beach with a
change house. Big Hill Lake offers lots of activities which include
fishing, boating, sailboating, water skiing, swimming, camping, picnicking,
horseback riding, sightseeing, and bird watching. Also enjoy the hiking & horse trails.

Parsons Lake ~ North of Parsons 4 miles on Hwy 59, then 3.4 miles west.
~ Parsons lake is a 1000 acre lake offering first class fishing year around.
Fish for channel catfish, walleye and crappie. According to conservation
officers, "Lake Parsons" is an under-fished lake." Facilities include
campsites, picnic areas, group shelters, sanitary facilities, boat ramps and a
sand swimming beach. Activities offered include fishing, boating,
sailboating, water skiing, swimming, camping and picnicking.

Strip Pits ~ "Pit" fishing affords the angler a unique experience, because
of the extremely clear water. Fishing requires a "sneak approach".
Trophy catches of large mouth bass, channel catfish, and various pan fishes
rewards those anglers who employ this technique. Since 1962 the Kansas
Fish & Game Commission has constructed more than 50 miles of all-weather
gravel roads, 20 miles of fishing trails and 75 gravel boat ramps.

Hunting ~ The 9 counties of Southeastern Kansas are said to be "The Best
for Hunting Quail." Bobwhite Quail harvest in Kansas annually tops over
2,000,000 birds. Within a 20-mile radius of Parsons, there is over
17,000 acres of public hunting areas, featuring quail, rabbits, dove,
squirrels and water fowl.
